My research deals on the economics of imperfectly competitive markets, particularly the factors that influence firms' decisions regarding the products they offer. Much of my work is empirical. One of my foci is the use of large scanner-level datasets from supermarkets and data on product introductions to study how manufacturers decide which products they offer and how stores decide which products they carry. Another area of interest to me is the economics of the tech sector, where I use data on app usage, web usage, and internet providers to understand the effects of policies such as network neutrality. Methodologically, I frequently apply modern empirical methods (both structural and reduced-form) to large datasets to allow me to make causal inferences.
